Closing the Oven Doors

My sweet and dear customers,

It’s bittersweet to announce that Bites Cupcakes & Cake Pops will be closing its oven doors at the end of November.  I have accepted quite the promotion at my OTHER job and I couldn’t be more honored .  Which means that I need to dedicate the majority of time to this new chapter in my life.  All orders that have been placed as of today and for Thanksgiving will obviously still be honored and ready for pick up as discussed!

I cannot even begin to express the gratitude and love I have for my customers over these last two years.  You have inspired me to be greater and I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.  You are the reason I’ve baked so many cupcakes, rolled & decorated so many cake pops, and the reason I was able to do what I love with such joy.  I will never stop baking, and maybe you’ll see the Bites name again sometime in the future.

With that said, I am toying with the idea of a final cupcake/cake pop sale – so please check my Facebook for updates.

Easter Bites!

Well well well my sweet friends, it’s been a while but it’s been a busy few weeks!  I don’t know how I’ve failed to share all the exciting things that have been going on with yours truly.

Let’s start with the biggest and most exciting piece of news… this month was Easter!
Which means…..

Bites turned One Year old this month!!!

I made my very first batch of cake pops last year on Easter, so I thought it only be fitting to make the classic Easter eggs and chicks again.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make as many Easter treats as I wanted – I was in New York City doing some cupcake “research,” which I will gladly share another time 🙂

So once again, thanks to all my wonderful friends who still haven’t had enough sugar yet!

One More Day.

24 hours.

1440 minutes.

86400 seconds.

Inspired by this Disney ad, I am surprisingly stoked for this Leap Day tomorrow.  For those of you who weren’t aware, February 29th only happens once every four years and this happens to be the year we have 366 days instead of 365.  So imagine what you could do with a WHOLE EXTRA DAY.  Like we always say, “if only there were more hours in the day.”  Well this year, you get 24 more hours!  Unfortunately this Leap Day falls on a Wednesday and that doesn’t stop the working world, but I challenge you to make the best out of this extra day.

Most of us can’t really take the entire day to do those “extra things”, so think small:

  • Write a Thank You letter to someone – and send it via snail mail
  • Get a workout in today – it’s hard to get there, but I guarantee you’ll feel better afterwards
  • Wear a cute outfit to work today, or just that new blazer you’ve been meaning to wear
  • Have a coffee date with a friend you haven’t seen, or that new person you want to get to know better

As I was looking up some info on Leap Days, I came across a list of Leap Year freebies from the Washington Post.  Keep in mind that that list is for the DC area, so just double check local stores to see if they’re also participating.

Happy End of Year!

Looking back at 2011, I can honestly say that it’s been an eventful year!  I made my very first cake pop on Easter Sunday and I never would have imagined that I would make pops into Roses, Baseballs, Mummies, Santa Hats, and so many other things.  Same goes for my cupcakes, I’ve spent months perfecting my recipes and to be quite honest, I don’t think I’ll ever be 100% satisfied with any recipe – because it can always get better!

I’ve had one amazing year and I have my customers, friends & family to thank for it all.  From catering my first event with The Stanton Magazine to providing dozens of cupcakes & cake pops for weddings/business parties, I wouldn’t be where I am now without all your support!  So thank you, my sweet friends, for making me a better baker and for making my 2011 a memorable one. 

I leave you with a GORGEOUS cupcake from one of my favorite stores – Georgetown Cupcake in DC, and now NYC.

I also remind you to please be safe this New Year’s Eve – DON’T DRINK & DRIVE.  There are several companies providing transportation as your celebrations come to a close, so please utilize them.

Let the baking begin!

First off, I would like to apologize for the month-long hiatus that has kept me from posting or creating any new treats.  On the other hand, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to my dedicated & sweet customers that have waited patiently while I finished my undergraduate career at UTEP last week.  It’s been such an adventure and I can’t believe I can finally call myself a “College Graduate!”

With that said, these next few days will be focused on creating 3 new holiday cupcake flavors AND a few new Christmas cake pops. I know it’s a little last minute, so that just means you’ve got to keep checking my Facebook from now until Saturday – because once I post holiday photos, emails start pouring in and order space is limited!
